Lost Sheep

Patrick: An adventurer in Owl's Nest! This is most certainly a sign from the Twelve. Might I ask of you a favor?
My name is Patrick, and I am but a humble shepherd making his living here in the mountains of Coerthas. I take my flock to pasture each morning, and lead them back here to their pen each night, as my family has done for seven generations.
However, last night, as I was gathering the animals for the journey home, two of my ewes took fright and ran off into the hills. I was tempted to give chase, but the sun had already passed below the nearby peaks, and I knew there was not nearly enough time to both find the sheep and guide my flock back to safety before darkness fell in the valley.
And so…I did what I knew I must. Yet it pains me to know that a pair of my poor children is still out there in the hills, lost and cold…and in grave danger. You see, this area is home to a pack of bloodthirsty wolves, and if not found quickly, my ewes have little chance of survival.
As I said, I am but a shepherd, unlearned in the ways of war. Though I might have strength enough to stave off the jaws of a single wolf, I fear I would not last long against a whole pack. A well-traveled adventurer, on the other hand, would surely fare rather better. Might you consent to cull the beasts, that I may search for my stray sheep?

Patrick: You are a Twelvesend, good sire! I shall remain here and watch over my flock until you have slain the foul dreadwolves roaming the hills nearby. It is impossible to know just how many of the creatures there are, but I would venture that the death of four would put fear enough into the hearts of the others that they would think twice before attacking again.

Impossible Airship

Patrick: Adventurer! You have slain the dreadwolves and returned unharmed! These are good tidings, indeed!
I, myself, bear good tidings as well. You see, my missing sheep were found by a fellow shepherd scarcely a bell ago. It seems they had joined his flock when they could not find their own.
Ah! Prithee do not think your efforts this day were for naught. The dreadwolves have plagued our hamlet for many generations, but for now they are gone. Your valiant deed will not be soon forgotten.
Ah…but grateful though I am, I find my heart is yet troubled by the strange events which first caused my flock to take flight… I recall a dark shadow passing overhead, followed by a terrible howl and a rumbling that shook the birds from their trees.
My first thought was that it must be a dragon, but the form and size fo the thing were unlike aught I had ever seen. And never before has a dragon caused the land to tremble…
Which can only mean the apparition was an airship. But this cannot be possible, for there has yet to be word of the recommencement of flights to the Holy See and its outlying landings.
I suppose there is always the possibilty that it was an imperial airship, but that would mean… No, such thoughts are foolish. What would the Empire want with Coerthas? It must have been a dragon.
Ah, but I have wasted enough time on idle speculation. I have sheep to tend, and I am sure you are eager to return to your travels. You have my thanks once again, adventurer. Here, a reward for your kind assistance. Farewell, and may the Fury give you strength.
