Knight (ナイト [knight] in Japanese) has been present in the series all the way back from Final Fantasy I, where it was the advanced version of Warrior. While it doesn't have immediately recognizable colors, all knights do wear heavy armor, usually with big shoulder guards.
Note that the Japanese ナイト is a bit of an oddball when it comes to translation in the FF series, as while in the cases listed below it's been translated as 'Knight', in all other cases it was translated as 'Paladin', which it closely resembles.
Knights are protectors of the weak, but do not come with associated holy powers as paladins do (the distinction is only in English versions, many instances of the ナイト job do use holy powers). They wear heavy armor and are good at dealing damage as well as taking hits. The knight is also rare enough of a job that there is only one clear example of it, Adelbert Steiner from Final Fantasy IX.

Knight in Final Fantasy V is one of the first jobs unlocked, and similarly to most other Wind Crystal jobs like itself, it's a rather basic job but one that can be useful far to the endgame. They have the second-highest Strength stat of all the jobs (highest in pre-GBA versions).
