Yagyu Darkrood

See also Yagyu Darkblade, in Japanese these two have the same name while the English name of the blade separates the two types of weapons that share it.

柳生の漆黒 [yagyu no shikkoku] in Japanese. Some other pronunciations might apply for the first word, this one falls in line with the English name though, so it is used on Chrysalis. Translations could be 'the jet black Yagyu' for example, as well as 'jet black living willow'.

It is named after the Yagyu clan of Feudal Japan, who are one of many venerated warrior clans in Japanese legend. Yagyu Munetoshi was the clan's luminary, who brought his family's name to high standing through his fighting skills as a samurai and the next master of milestone sword style Shinkage-ryu; maxims and school focus were centered on a new wave of warfare, turning to a greater emphasis on speed, reservation, free flowing movement, smaller scales of duels, and the concepts of Satsujinken (lit. "Swords that Kill") and Katsujinken (lit. "Swords that Give Life"). Yagyu would become famous for introducing the style to Tokugawa Ieyasu, and his clan would later become the subject of urban legends, as his style is believed to have also been secretly taught to ninja clans such as Iga and Koga by his descendants.
