Dozmare is the commonly accepted way to spell out the name of this monster. However, the only mythological reference to a Dozmare is the Dozmare Pool (also Dozmary, Dosmery, etc), which is pronounced differently than what the katakana of the monster's name tells us ('meri' instead of the 'mea' given in Japanese). It could still well be the real name of this monster, but only if the name of this monster is misspelled in Japanese.
Dosmary Pool (lit. 'drop of the sea') is located in south-western England, and is featured in many folktales of the area, most of them including various evil spirits. The famed giant Tregeagle was known for having been given the task of emptying the pool with a broken limpet shell. Dosmary Pool is also sometimes said to be the body of water into which Excalibur was thrown after King Arthur's death, although other places can have a more credible claim to it.
ドズメア [dozmare] in Japanese.
