Overview
Raincatcher Gully (レインキャッチャー樹林 [raincatcher jurin] or 'raincatcher forest' in Japanese) is a wooded pass in eastern La Noscea. While it is located not too far from Bloodshore to its east, the two are separated by high cliffs and travel is just about impossible other than via the Agelyss River that makes its way through the cliffs at the bottom of a ravine. To the south of Raincatcher Gully is Cedarwood, to the north-east Agelyss Wise and to the north-west Bronze Lake. The village of Wineport is located in the north, and the goblin settlement Brayflox's Longstop to the west.
Raincatcher Gully as a separate area didn't exist in version 1.x. It is presumed to have been there in some form, possibly as the series of ravines located in the west of Bloodshore, but it is unknown just how much effect the Calamity had in the area and how much is retcon. The vegetation appears to be much older than just 5+ years old, however, so it can be safely deduced that even before the Calamity the area it is supposed to have had its distinct jungle-like appearance.
Locations
Raincatcher Gully Docks
The Raincatcher Gully Docks (船着場:レインキャッチャー [funatsukiba: raincatcher] or 'docks: raincatcher' in Japanese) is one of the ferry docks built along the Agelyss River. This one is located on the eastern road from Limsa Lominsa to Bronze Lake, so is quite centrally located. The second dock along the Agelyss River that players can access is the Hidden Falls Docks further to the east.
Docks Warehouse
The Docks Warehouse (船着場の平屋 [funatsukiba no hiraya] or 'docks bungalow' in Japanese) is a warehouse building nearby the Raincatcher Gully Docks. It was presumably used to store goods waiting for transport across the Agelyss River, but currently it is inhabited by several high-ranking Doman refugees.
The Juggernaut
The Juggernaut is a remnant of battles fought in the near past, one of the war machines of Garlean forces left to rust where it fell. While the English version of the game gives no further name to the area, the Japanese version identifies it as レインキャッチャー沼沢地 [raincatcher shoutakuchi], or 'Raincatcher Marshland'.
Red Mantis Falls
Red Mantis Falls (レッドマンティス滝 [red mantis taki] or 'red mantis waterfall' in Japanese) is a waterfall on the Agelyss River on its way to the sea. The Falls gained its name from how the local red mantises like to lay their eggs near it.
The Severed String
The Severed String (切られた革紐亭 [kirareta kawahimo tei] 'cut leather strap station' in Japanese) is a small building that was built by black marketeers for the peddling and transport of their goods1. However, due to unknown reasons it was abandoned, and a Garlean deserter came to live there shortly after the Calamity.
Info
Note that Raincatcher Gully was considered part of Bloodshore in version 1.x. See Bloodshore's page for 1.x info.
